Nestled along Lake Ray Roberts in Valley View, Texas, Edge of the Lake Vineyard is a scenic escape just minutes from Historic Downtown Denton. Spanning 13 acres, the vineyard exclusively cultivates Spanish grape varieties—Tempranillo, Grenache, Albarino, and Malbec.
Dr. Fred Cummings, driven by childhood memories of his grandmother's vines, embarked on this venture in 2011. Dr. Cummings, along with his son Chris McIntosh and Vineyard Master Greg Davis, completed the Viticulture and Enology program at Grayson College, driven by their aspiration to create a lasting family heritage.
Viognier thrives in the diverse terroirs of Texas, producing wines with distinct character. In Texas, Viognier expresses itself with vibrant notes of stone fruits like peach and apricot, often accompanied by floral aromas. The warm climate allows for optimal ripening, resulting in a balanced palate with refreshing acidity. This wine exhibits a delightful complexity, featuring nuances of tropical fruits and a touch of minerality, showing off the aromatics of orange flowers and honeysuckle.
